Apology and Understanding Regarding the Outcomes of the COD MWIII and Rainbow 6 Siege Tournaments at LANX2024.
Posted at28-06-2024
Dear Participants and Sponsors,
We at LANX would like to address concerns regarding the prize outcomes for the COD MWIII and Rainbow 6 Siege tournaments at LANX2024 on 23 June 2024.
This year, we collaborated with House of Esports to offer cash prizes for the first time. We calculated that 260 ticket sales would cover the prize costs, but we only sold 110 tickets, resulting in insufficient funds for the promised prizes.
The event is funded solely by ticket sales, and no vendors, sponsors, or brands provided monetary contributions. Their support was limited to items, giveaways, time, and entertainment to promote their brands. We apologize for any inconvenience and express our immense gratitude to all vendors, sponsors, and brands for their unwavering support and contributions.
Discussions about prize money were ongoing, and we were confident in ticket sales due to community interest. Prior to the event, House of Esports mistakenly posted draft advertisements without finalized terms and conditions, not yet approved by LANX. However, our oversight in not appointing someone to manage the prizes and monitoring social posts led to miscommunications. Additionally, this was House of Esports’ first time hosting a physical tournament, and lacking advertising experience contributed to the misperceptions.
House of Esports did communicate to the teams before the tournaments that prize money was dependent on ticket sales. They helped us voluntarily without any payment, and we appreciate their dedication to the gaming community and the event.
We and House of Esports met with team leaders of the winning teams to discuss a resolution. An agreement was reached, and funds were distributed to the team leaders, who accepted the funds. Additionally, we will sponsor tickets for these teams for the next event as a gesture of goodwill.
Our aim was never to mislead. We are committed to fairness and transparency. Moving forward, please disregard any prize announcements not officially posted on our social media pages as misinformation. As a small community-driven event we want to help grow the gaming scene in ZA.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to prevent future misunderstandings. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
Sincerely,
Armand Petzer
